Vice President’s Message
                                                      June, 2008
As I write this, Judy and I are in Panguitch hiding geocaches for the Red Rock Rendezvous.  We’re in our tent camper at the KOA, which is marginally warmer than a regular tent.  Last night it was windy, 35 degrees, and raining. However, we have a secret weapon against the cold.  It’s called an electric blanket.  I’m sure it will be a lot warmer in two weeks for the rally. Just a reminder to throw in those long Johns and the warm sleeping bag. Too bad there isn’t a place to plug in an electric blanket at the fairgrounds.

I’ve been to a number of other clubs’ rallies. What makes them enjoyable is the enthusiasm and level of volunteering by the clubs’ memberships in making the rallies run smoothly. Lots of BHB members have already contributed lots of time and energy to this year’s rally. But, we’ll still need many volunteers at the rally for jobs ranging from running the registration desk and store to helping police the showers and porta-potties.  Even helping out for a two hour block leaves plenty of time for riding and the beer garden (in that order). So, please help out. You can sign up at the registration desk.

Remember last month I was struggling with my MBS (Multiple Bike Syndrome)? Well, I sold the F650GS to a young man in Oregon who promises to give her a good home.  My MBS is better.  Now I’m depressed. I sold the wrong bike.   Judy said all along I was selling the wrong bike. But she’s not emotionally attached, like I am. At least with MBS, you may be poor, but happy.

I hope to see each and every one of you at the Copper Mill in Logan for breakfast on June 14th at 9:30.  They promise to have a nice breakfast buffet and lots of coffee. Afterwards, you can ride home by way of Bear Lake and maybe Monte Cristo which was scheduled to open on May 27th. Don’t drink too much coffee. There aren’t any trees from Bear Lake to Monte.  By the way, if you are planning to go to Logan the northern route via Hwy 30, be warned that it’s closed for resurfacing.   Anyway, parking for the Copper Mill is a large lot behind and west of the restaurant with the GPS coordinates on our web site.  If you just want to be stubborn, you can also park out front by the old Logan Temple. We’ll let you decide.  Just be there.  The July 12th club breakfast meeting will be at the Brighton Store which is always a great ride with lots of scenery and curves. Start planning ahead for it, also.
